The Portland Winter Light Festival is coming up this Thursday through Saturday February 1st-3rd.
This is the third year for the festival which is an installation event that combines art and technology. Taking inspiration from light festivals around the globe the festival encourages the community to come outdoors together at a time of year that they tend to hibernate. This years theme is “The Light of Progress” and over 100 artists, makers, and performers create interactive displays outdoors all over the city to experience.
I think this is a brilliant event in a city where it seems like everyone disappears for the winter. It happens rain or shine but is totally worth the risk of getting a little wet for some incredible installation art viewing.
This event is FREE, family friendly and open to everyone. Last years festival had over 40,000 visitors!
