Richard Sundeleaf
Richard Sundeleaf was born in the Goosehollow neighborhood (Portland) in 1900 and grew up in Sellwood. Sundeleaf graduated in 1923 from the University of Oregon’s School of Architecture and went to work for A.E. Doyle for a year and eventually opened his own firm in 1928.
In the 1940’s, Sundeleaf became a proponent of the Streamline Moderne Style, in which the spirit of the machine age and the concepts of aerodynamics shaped the design of the building.
Sundeleaf designed many mid century residential and public buildings during his life. Richard Sundeleaf passed away March 1987.
